What is STEP?

STEP time is the name given to our morning registration and the time in the afternoon spent with tutors and pastoral staff. It stands for Study, Tutorial, Enrichment and PSHE.

All Sixth Form students participate in STEP activities on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. The high quality PSHE programme covers economic wellbeing, careers and enterprise education, and education for personal safety, including assessing and managing risk. Students are involved in a variety of learning opportunities for each of the following topics: ‘Health and Wellbeing’, ‘Relationships’, and ‘Living in the Wider World’. Throughout year our students will participate in workshops delivered by guest speakers and organisations as well as participating in diversity and wellbeing days.

Thursday and Friday afternoon STEP sessions are designed to help support students further in their A’ level and vocational studies. This may involve exam technique workshops, coursework support sessions, problem solving, revision intervention, and the development of literacy skills. They also have the opportunity to listen to guest speakers linked to curriculum areas.
