Local Governing Board

The Governing Board of Framwellgate School Durham plays an important role in leadership and governance. A committee of the Excel Academy Partnership Trust, it is accountable to the Trust Board for the leadership and performance of the school. Governors have a duty to oversee the strategic direction of the school and to monitor standards. Above all, the role of the governors is to provide support and challenge to the Headteacher and senior leadership of the school.

In this section of the website you will find more details about individual governors and our ways of working. There are six full governing board meetings each year, supported by the work of two committees and link governors. The Expectations and Protocol documents indicate that we set our standards high. Governors are actively involved in the school and we place a strong focus on training so that governors are up to date with the constant changes in education.

In order to help parents and the wider community gain an insight into the work of our governing board a Governor Update is written each half term.
