Outstanding Care, Guidance and Support

Care, Guidance and Support

Pastoral Care Team

The Pastoral Team includes the school’s Pastoral Managers and Heads of Year. This team is highly experienced in supporting our students around issues covering their education, or problems they may be encountering at school or at home.

Counselling Provision

The counselling team are regularly in school providing support to students who require that extra bit of specialist help to overcome issues or problems which they may have.

Achievement Centre

We are very proud of our Achievement Centre at FSD, which is a dedicated student and study support service allowing students with specific needs to receive the dedicated and bespoke support they need. This includes first class support for students with special educational needs or disabilities. Our experienced team is made up of a SENDCO, two HLTAs and an LSA who provide extra support to students in the classroom. The team works tirelessly to remove barriers to learning that some students may have. Such barriers may be medical, emotional, social or linked to language skills. Individual learning plans and support programmes are used to help students reach their potential.

Student Reception

Our friendly student reception team is available all day, including before and after school, to support our students with any general questions they may have, and to liaise with home if and when necessary.

External Agencies

FSD is privileged to work with a wide variety of external agencies. These include the Education Welfare Service, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, and a variety of specialists in the area of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Transition Arrangements

A number of colleagues work in primary school engagement to ensure that students receive appropriate support when they make the transition from their primary school to Framwellgate School Durham. This involves close liaison with colleagues in the primary schools, and ensures that students with particular areas of need are given the support and care required before, and during their move to FSD.
